Zafesoft secures the content in office documents from malicious, accidental, or intrusive leakage by zafing the content. The zafed content is available to internal or external users for view and edit.
Zafed content looks and behaves as the original, so it is easy to use and no new training is needed. Its patented technology provides deterministic persistent security, even through successive copy and paste, save or save as, print to PDF, etc. events.
Once zafed the content is effectively secured, encrypted, and ‘track enabled’.
The end users continue to see the file name as before .doc, .xls, .txt, .pdf etc., they open the file by double clicking on it, they continue to use and work with the files as before including copy, paste, save, save as etc..
A set of documents may be zafed and shared with a group of people. These people could edit, copy, paste, save, email etc. the shared content or portions of it, however if they accidentally or maliciously passed this information to any ‘other users’, these ‘other users’ would not be able to access or view the information. At any point in time, this information can be UNSHARED from any or all users, and they will no longer be able to access this information (including its derivatives). Meanwhile, the technology is transparent to the end-user and easy to use.
Users may copy-paste zafed content from file to file; the content will pass to the new file in the zafed format, and the owner will continue to track its usage and spread.

The process of zafing: Users can zafe in one of the following ways:
- Save the file into folders designated as secure (zafed folder).
- Zafe an individual file, folder or drive with a right click.
- Use the Quick Zafe feature.
- Zafe from the application menu.
